Is core stability needed for golf?
I see core stability as the ability to stabilise and control the core. The core can include anything around the midsection, but most commonly around the pelvis and spine.
Core stability as part of a wider strength training programme can help golf performance. Or as a complete beginner to exercise, core stability alone could help, but then again could a lot of things.
I imagine there to be a few levels of core stability, starting with exercises like the ones in the video above. Processing onto more challenging variations and including exercises which are standing or involve the whole body. Finishing with core strength exercises, which could be exercises you cannot perform many reps of (Ie that improve strength).
I also see core stability as core endurance exercise. These can form the foundation before performing strength based exercise.
